Summers Here at Last

Wow its like a switch was flicked. The weather now is a little like the weather we were having before we left NZ back in April. ......we are still unable to take to the sea until the registration is done and dusted, so we have had 2 weeks on board  at the the marina getting use to how everything goes. I would hope to have the paperwork all done in about a week, this will enable us to pay for the "Vinietta" (license to sail in Croatian waters) .
Our days are kept busy. Today I finished off polishing the top sides....I'm glad its only 49 ft long ,that was hard! Ange has had the odd trip into Zadar buying "stuff" for the yacht. We  just have  a few  odd jobs and things to get ticked off before we set sail....but all in all the yacht has been really well maintained so there's not too much to do.  Yesterday I got a local sparky and his side kick to sort out the chain counter. This will enable me to drop the anchor and retrieve it at the helm...The pleasing thing was it didn't cost an arm and a leg to get fixed.
We have made some really good friends. Its a bit like one big family with a common interest .Its a little like the United Nations. In the marina we are really lucky to have such good neighbours. We have Ronny from the Netherlands, across the way we have Einar from Norway, who has been really generous allowing us to use his old BMW to get around when needed.

Last night Simon Penlington sailed into Sukosan. I was visiting Anne and Cam on their boat when I saw this yacht coming in from the distance. We were expecting him, just weren't sure exactly when. It was pretty special to see the Silver fern hoisted on full display.
Heading out in the inflatable to see Simon
Polished topsides...

Last night we all went out to the local restaurant the "Piazetta". A great evening was had by all , finished off by a nip of the local fire water to set you on your way.
It was really good to catch up with Simon, we hope to see him again in Split about the time he's picking up Chilly.
So that's just a bit of a brief update as to what we have been up to, lets hope we have some good news regarding the registration next week. In the meantime, thanks for reading, Steve.
