On Thursday we drove Marina up to Zadar to catch a bus back to her Grandmas , it was now time to focus on where we were off to next We returned with supplies to carry us through for 10 days out around the islands. We decided it was Korcula where we wanted to go so the course was plotted and we were off the next day.

I figured just short day trips with more time relaxing in the bay so we set sail for Murter Island approx. 30 nm . The wind was lacking a little in the morning but picked up making it a glorious reach making good time. We anchored in a bay on Murter called Kosirina Bay. It was pretty well packed on the shore line with holiday makers with a camping ground covering the whole bay. From where I was sitting clothing for them was an option, not many chose.
The anchorage was secure and the water was warm so lots of swimming and general laziness was the order of the day.

Veli Drvenik Bay

The following day we received a call from Annie and Cam. They were on there way south too so a rendezvous was made before the next stop. I thought a little Island off the mainland just outside Trogir looked a good option but was I wrong. We made good time with Annie and Cam sailing with us in AnneCam. We intended to stop at Veli Drvenik in a little bay called Mala Luka. This was an uninhabited cove, with quite deep water so it made it a little difficult to anchor. We both put stern anchors over with the idea of stopping the stern of the boat hitting the shore as we were moored quite close. The only problem was the wind rose dramatically and swung 180 deg. I was in the process of moving as I could see we had dragged a little too much for my liking and just as we were in the process Cam had to also make a bit of a call and get out of there quickly too....but some how our anchors got tangled. The short story was we retreated out of the bay with no damage only poor Cam suffered a rib injury man handling the tangled anchors.

We then went in search of another bay, we spotted one just across from us so we motored over. On the way we could see another yacht making a bee line for the same anchorage. The only problem was he was going to have to go behind us as we had the mooring lined up and ahead. I thought general manners would prevail but not so. He sped up, got in front of us and through his anchor over without even any idea what he had just done.x%#@ Ange muttered a few words to him and we left in search of another bay as this star bangled banner wielding cowboy was a danger to himself, not to mention us. We later saw him pull up anchor and move off in the opposite direction to us.

So after finding a great little spot on the opposite side of Veli Drvenik, we stayed for 2 nights. Again blue water like you wouldn't believe ,swimming conditions. On our final night there we went out for dinner with Cam and Annie in one of the local restaurant's and had a good stroll around the bay after. It was a little disturbing though how much crap washes up on the shore. Something like this is only going to get worse as Croatia is discovered by the world.
The next day Annie and Cam started heading back as Cams ribs were quite sore. We set sail for the top of the Peninsular just off Korcula. We made good time and reached our destination of Loviste Bay. Stunning bay, heaps of room and good firm anchorage. Now if you thought the water was blue at other bays, this was out of this world in colour and clarity. That afternoon the dinghy was put in the water and we motored ashore and had a good walk around with a stop off at a café on the way.

We were only 10nm from Korcula now so the following morning we ended up motoring all of the way as there was not a breath of wind. I had phoned ahead and booked a marina berth for 2 nights at the Lumbarda Marina. It was only a short bus trip into Korcula so it proved quite handy and very secure while we were off exploring......plus we got the use of showers , power and toilets facilities.
What amazed Ange was the fact I backed the yacht 50metres into a tight berth. I'm not sure who was more relieved.!
