On arrival in Geneva, we stayed overnight before catching a bus to Annecy in France. I was here for work with Mavic this time last year and really enjoyed the whole place. It reminded me a little of Queenstown. We had planned to have 4 nights here and then bus back to Geneva in order to fly out to Split on Saturday.....but first I had to pick up my watch.
Way back when I was 18yrs old I found a watch and handed it in to the police only to receive it back after 3 months as it wasn't claimed. Little did I know its true value nor appreciate its true workmanship and consequently it got a little trashed and stopped working. It sat in my drawer for 20 years before I did something about it. So last year when I was in Geneva I dropped it off to Omega and had it totally restored. So having waited a whole year I was pretty stoked to pick it up.
From Geneva we travelled down to Annecy by bus. The Spring weather was just starting to warm up by now. We both enjoyed our time there, we hired bikes and rode part way around Lake Annecy, just as I did with Emma and Arj when I caught up with them last year. Even got out in the paddle boats and gave the legs a bit of a work out.
On the Saturday we were due to fly out to Split we caught the bus back to Geneva. On our arrival there we discovered one of our bags was missing and obviously stolen......with our passports inside!! This completely threw us, with no passports we had no show in flying out in the afternoon. So for the next week we spent more time in Geneva, probably one of the most expensive places in the world. With every day spent here I could see the yacht getting shorter in length day by day.!! We were very lucky to have such good support around us; Emma's good friend Jo Pearson's cousin Maria lived in Geneva. Maria and David were very good to have us stay for 3 nights. We really enjoyed the extra time there and managed to fill each day exploring Geneva.
So exactly one week late, we touched down in Split. Now the fun of finding our yacht would start.
